Asylum (1972)
Summary: An anthology of four horror stories with a wraparound involving a young psychiatrist who, as part of a job interview, must speak with four patients inside an asylum.
  • “Frozen Fear:” A wife returns from the dead to exact cool justice upon her murdering husband and mistress.
  • “The Weird Tailor:” A struggling tailor accepts an unusual assignment from an unusual client to make a suit with unusual qualities.
  • “Lucy Comes to Stay:” A woman returns home after a stay in a mental institution... but is she truly cured?
  • “Mannikins of Horror:” A man imbues his consciousness into a life-like miniature robot in order to enact revenge.

Bloch: “In my Amicus films, I probably prefer the “Frozen Fear” episode of Asylum. It was done just as I’d written it, even down to the individual camera shots in many instances—which I felt would set up the shock reactions in the audience.”

Category: Motion Picture
Script: An original screenplay written by Bloch; the tales adapted by Bloch from his short stories of the same name
