Non-Fiction
While Bloch is primarily known for his fiction, he also produced a large amount of non-fiction as well: a handful of books and voluminous essays, articles, letters, poems, and even artwork authored for magazines and fanzines.

Books
The Eighth Stage of Fandom
Published by Advent especially for the 1962 World Science Fiction Convention. Trade edition of 875 copies. A selection of Bloch's fan magazine writing. Bloch: “A rather unusual volume was issued in both hardcover and paperback editions by the specialty publisher Advent Press. Under an esoteric title, The Eighth Stage of Fandom, they offered a collection of articles, essays and fiction I’d contributed to science fiction fan magazines over the years. As far as I know this sort of venture had never been attempted before, and I was relieved for their sake when it succeeded.” View Contents |
Out of My Head Published by New England Science Fiction Association (NESFA) Press for their 1986 convention held in Boston where Bloch was the Guest of Honor. Hardcover. Limited to 800 numbered copies. A collection of previously published fan magazine articles. Bloch: “Just to keep me from drowsing off, the convention committee in Boston intimated that they would like their guest of honor to prepare a special book; it was customary to issue such volumes in limited editions. Not having the spare time to write another novel on that particular afternoon, I instead assembled a sequel to my earlier collection of pieces from fan magazines. Out of My Head did well in Boston and so did I.” View Contents |
