Robert Bloch wrote hundreds of short stories and the exact number remains unknown. His stories have been regularly anthologized, appearing in nearly 50 American collections alone. Many of his finest stories – “Yours Truly, Jack the Ripper,” and “The Feast in the Abbey,” for instance – have been over-anthologized to the point where other, equally fine stories, have been forgotten. More recently, small-press publishers, like the Subterranean Press, have unearthed lesser-known stories rarely reprinted to the delight of scholars and fans.
