The Kidnaper

First Published: 1954
Publisher: Lion Pocketbooks
Format: Paperback
Picture
Summary: Steve Collins, small-time criminal, is tired of settling. He wants money, lots of it—a “big score”—and comes up with what he feels is a foolproof plan. Together with his girl, Mary, and co-worker Leo “Specs,” Steve plots to kidnap a wealthy banker’s young daughter for a $200,000 ransom. The abduction a complete success, the three celebrate and dream what each will do with their share of the money. The celebration is short-lived, however, as Steve’s “perfect” plan goes horribly awry after a tragic accident.

Bloch: There is little to nothing to be found on Bloch speaking about The Kidnaper other than a brief mention in Randall Larson’s The Robert Bloch Companion to the book being one of which Bloch is most fond of (along with The Star Stalker, Psycho, Night-World, and Strange Eons).
