- The Quill, 1932; his Lincoln high school literary magazine. Later printed in 1993 by The Pretentious Press (see below) of which 85 copies were produced and 70 were freely distributed. From the Introduction: "A few days before my 15th birthday, in 1932, my high school magazine published an issue featuring parodies. I contributed a lampoon of H.P. Lovecraft."
